The Shot

From Vision to Fruition

"Save your Wood"

Captured near Governor Nelson state park.

A common spot for me and my friends I passed this dormant bulldozer and impressive oak tree many times. One day as I was getting out of my car I saw these two elements align together. Thankfully I had my Nikon D3300 with me and I was able to capture this image.

Very seldom am I able to capture an image that requires little to no retouching such as this one. No elements were removed, only changes in contrast, highlights, shadows and color were made.

"Drewry Lane"
Captured near Lake Mendota WI

Out Looking for scenes worth photographing, I recalled driving down an overgrown road to visit a friend's graduation party. There were more mosquitoes than I remembered. As soon as I found the road I knew that it had much potential.

The aesthetic of the shot was ruined by an obnoxious line of telephone poles, after a quick mask in photoshop the image appeared much less urban. Than it was only a matter of making it look grim and dark, by reducing the highlights and draining some saturation the image appeared foreboding and treacherous while remaining mysterious. An end effect I was quite satisfied with.
